ENVI Council - Deforestation-free imports

The goal of the Commission’s proposal on deforestation-free products is to ensure that products consumed on the EU market do not contribute to deforestation and forest degradation worldwide. The proposal includes due diligence rules for operators dealing with commodities, such as soy, beef, palm oil, wood, cocoa and coffee, which are associated with deforestation.

Ministers will hold an exchange of views about the proposal.

EU agriculture and fisheries ministers discussed the proposal in February 2022.
