ENVI Council - Greening the European Semester

Ministers will exchange views on the process of ensuring that the macroeconomic policies within the European Semester are sustainable.

The European Semester is a cycle of economic, fiscal, labour and social policy coordination within the EU. It is part of the European Union's economic governance framework.

In December 2019, the Commission announced the European Green Deal and, with it, the intention to integrate the UN sustainable development goals in the European Semester process.
